The goal is for BeatBuggy members to vote on tracks based exclusively on how it sounds. When you review a track, you don’t know what the member looks like, or his or her name. Afterward, your review will get reviewed by an unknown member to make sure your being fair about your review. We feel that using this approach removes bias and makes the scores more decisive.
We hope that by implementing a Review System that we can eliminate tracks from reaching the charts unfairly. On other music sites anyone including the person uploading the track can vote on a track as many times as they want too. Many of the tracks move up the charts by way of popularity and friendship votes on those other sites. Our review system gives musicians at beatbuggy.com the opportunity to review their peers and offer feedback and recommendations.
Nobody is judging your opinions nor trying to place less or more value on your tastes. However, our community will grade how much effort you put into writing about your opinions and tastes. A random member of our community will be assigned to read the review and answer questions like: “How relevant was this review?”…”How insightful was this review?”
Insincere flattery won't help your reviewer rating. The real grade is based on whether you've written a sophisticated review that offers constructive and insightful opinions on specific aspects of the song. Avoid being insulting, but be as critical as you like.
Example 1: When the drummer does the tat tat tat tat it makes me think of Peter Criss in Kiss. The production seems a bit muddy. Just a bit. Like the guitar riff. I think in order to modernize this track you could add some synth or spacey sounds. As I listen the riff just keeps repeating itself over and over. I think repetition is important in pop music - but the riff gets a bit too repetitive. Not sure if I hear a hit, but not bad. I would just come up with some more instrumentation to make the guitar riff less repetitive and more special. Like the Ace Frehley toggle switch ending.
Example 2: The sped up vocals at the beginning sound sick. The sound is really good, the bass drum, hi-hat, and snare combo fit the track well. I can't tell whether there is a guitar with effects on it, or a sped-up vocal track with effects on it in the background of the lyrics. Whatever it is, it's perfect behind the lyrics. "For all the times", I like that a lot, it felt real, and I could relate to it. I love the guitar in the background of the chorus, they add to the soul of the song. This track is sick, I can't believe I'm hearing this, nice job
